A teenage boy remains in hospital after being swept into rocky waters on the Queensland’s Gold Coast yesterday afternoon.

The 16-year-old was pulled unconscious from the rough ocean after being knocked off rocks between Snapper Rocks and Froggy Beach around 2.30pm yesterday.

Local lifeguards rescued the teen from the water and immediately performed CPR in attempt to revive him.

A bystander called triple zero and ambulance services arrived shortly after to assist with resuscitation, which was eventually successful.

“Through their resuscitation efforts they were able to restart his heart … even though there are positive signs of life that’s still classed as a critical condition,” Adam Flory from Gold Coast Local Ambulance Service said.

The boy was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital also suffering deep lacerations to his body from being washed into the wild surf.
