Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the gained 0.22%, while the index climbed 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:), which rose 7.23% or 49.50 points to trade at 734.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) added 6.60% or 20.10 points to end at 324.60 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) was up 5.73% or 18.10 points to 334.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.88% or 75.60 points to trade at 1874.00 at the close. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) declined 1.75% or 11.80 points to end at 662.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.57% or 111.45 points to 6975.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which rose 5.64% to 112.30, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.64% to settle at 1490.65 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 2.55% to close at 1047.85.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.87% to 1873.15 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.58% to settle at 6975.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.36% to 3911.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1005 to 641 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1631 rose and 1190 declined, while 152 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) rose to 5-year highs; rising 7.23% or 49.50 to 734.05. Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.73% or 18.10 to 334.20. Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.64% or 6.00 to 112.30.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.95% to 25.2275.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.19% or 3.40 to $1805.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.81% or 0.50 to hit $62.20 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.46 to trade at $64.82 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 72.494, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 88.0730.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 90.153.
