She shared that a drunk driver caused a collision after passing a red light in Omaha, Nebraska. Trevor was only 14 years old.

The Hollywood star has not yet forgotten the tragedy.

"Thinking about my family today. Exactly one year ago, my little cousin was killed by a drunk driver." Modern Family star captioned his Instagram story on Sunday. "A meaningless and reckless act took away a beautiful soul. You will always be in our hearts and in the sunsets. I love you Trevor."

The driver accused of causing the accident was charged with involuntary manslaughter before the end of the year.

"I would like to ask those who have negative thoughts or opinions about the tragedy that happened to my family, to keep them for themselves," he said. "You don't know all the details. And how dare you attack when you lose a beautiful life."

However, there seemed to be more negativity in his path.

"You finally did it. Your horrible ignorant negative words have broken me. Happy?" She wrote on Twitter. "Stay offline for a while. I think I have a special announcement and a video release on Wednesday. So, that's it."

In defense of his fiancee, Wells Adams He praised Hyland for his strength.

"This beautiful specimen has had a difficult couple of weeks," he shared. "I am here to remind you @sarahhyland that there is light among all the darkness. If you ever doubt that, just look at this photo and remember how amazing we are."

He added: "Put on sweatshirts, ask for some Postmates and get home alone. I will be home soon."
